Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Proton ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our desktop application and website at protonai.app. We take your privacy seriously and have designed Proton to keep your data under your control.

1. Data We Do Not Collect

Proton is a locally-installed desktop application. We do not operate servers that store your conversations, memory, files, or personal information. Specifically:

• Your conversations with Proton are stored only on your device.
• Your memory, notes, and project data are stored only on your device.
• Your API keys (Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.) are stored only in your local configuration file.
• We do not collect analytics, crash reports, or telemetry from the application.

2. Third-Party AI Services

To function, Proton sends your messages to third-party AI providers that you configure. These may include:

• Anthropic, for Claude language models. See anthropic.com/privacy.
• OpenAI, for GPT models and Realtime voice. See openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.
• ElevenLabs, for text-to-speech (if enabled). See elevenlabs.io/privacy.

You are responsible for reviewing and accepting the privacy policies of any AI providers you connect to Proton. Your data is subject to their terms once transmitted.

3. Payments and Licensing

All payments and subscription management are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our Merchant of Record. Lemon Squeezy collects and processes payment information (name, email, billing details) on our behalf. We do not store your payment information. See lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.

When you activate Proton, your license key and a device identifier are sent to Lemon Squeezy's licensing API to verify your subscription status. This check occurs on every app launch and periodically thereafter. No other personal data is transmitted during this process.

4. Website

Our website (protonai.app) may use standard web server logs that record your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. These logs are used only for security and operational purposes and are not shared with third parties.

5. Telegram Integration

If you choose to connect Proton to a Telegram bot, your messages to that bot are processed through Telegram's API. See telegram.org/privacy. Your Telegram bot token is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to us.

6. Children's Privacy

Proton is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Proton after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
